Add Blog Content to Other Pages on Your Site

Once you’ve created a blog and started publishing posts, you may want to link to those posts from other pages on your site. For example, you might want to list the most recent post on your homepage under “News.”

In the “Add Component” dropdown in your AMM Content Builder, you’ll notice a set of new Blog components:

  • Blog Comments Section
  • Blog Post Archive
  • Blog Post Display
  • Blog Post Listing

Blog Comments Section

Use the Blog Comments Section component if you would like to display the comments from a specific post on a page on your site.

  1. Select the blog post associated to the comments you would like to display. Click the “Select Blog Post” button or the “Set by URL” button to select a blog post.
    • Select Blog Post
Note: Click the Select Blog Post button to select the blog post for the comments section you’d like to display.
    • Set by URL
      Note:
Set by URL is the default setting, but should only be used if you are adding blog comments to a page on your site that you created within ABE.

Blog Post Archive

The Blog Post Archive component allows you to display blog posts from selected time frames on a page.

  1. Select the type of display you would like to use for the list of postings.
  2. Select the blogs you would like to include.
    Note:
If you do not select any blogs, it will include all your blogs.
  3. Enter any tags you’d like to include. Start typing tags in the Available Tags field and you will see suggestions from available tags. Or, click the Available Tags button to view and select from a list of previously created tags.
  4. Select how many posts, days, or months you’d like to display per page.
    Note:
Selecting to display, for example, three days per page will display three days on which posts were made, not necessarily three consecutive days.

Blog Post Display

If you want to display a selected blog post on a page that was not created using ABE, you can use the Blog Post Display component.

  1. Select the blog post you would like to display by clicking the “Select Blog Post” button. The setting and button for “Set by URL” should only be used on non-Blog created pages.
  2. Select the Display Type.
    • Full
      Displays the full post.
    • Full with Comments Link
Displays the full post with a link to any comments.
    • Excerpt
      Displays the excerpt only.
    • Excerpt with Comments Link
Displays the Excerpt with a link to any comments.
    • Additional Content
      • Displays the content you have included within the Additional Content section of your blog page.
Note: Your Blog themes must be set up to display Additional Content if desired. Check with your Superuser to find out if your blog uses Additional Content.
    • Additional Content with Comments Link
      • Displays the content you have included within the Additional Content section of your blog page with a link to any comments.
Note: Your Blog themes must be set up to display Additional Content if desired. Check with your Superuser to find out if your blog uses Additional Content.

Blog Post Listing

Use the Blog Post Listing component to display a list of recently-published posts on pages other than the one you’ve designated as your blog root page. Blog post listings can include posts from multiple blogs.

Once you’ve inserted the component, you can configure which posts to display and how to display them.

  1. List Display:
This determines how your list will display. Custom display options can be pre-determined with Clockwork, so check with your Superuser if you’re unsure about what each option will look like. You may also use the Preview function to see what these options will look like.
  2. Blogs
Choose which blogs you want to show in this blog list.
  3. Tags
You can filter the posts that display by selecting tags. (Uncheck the “Show all tags” box to see all available tags.) For example, if you have some posts tagged with “News” and you want to display them in a News section on the homepage, you’d check the box next to the “News” tag. Any tags that have been applied to any ABE post in the blogs you selected will show up in your blog list.
  4. List Size Limit
Enter the number of items you would like to display in this list.
  5. Published Date Range Start and End
If desired, you can create a page that shows only posts from a particular month or week. Use these fields to set your date range. (Uncheck the “No Start Limit” boxes to enter date ranges.)
  6. Contribute to Blog Feeds
If you want the posts on this page to contribute to an RSS feed for the page, check this box. Once the page has been published, an RSS icon will appear in the user’s browser where they can subscribe to this page. They will see any new posts from this page in their RSS reader.
    Note:
Only one RSS feed can be used per page. See the section on feeds in the AMM manual for more detailed information about setting up feeds.
