Comments

View and Approve Comments

There are three ways that commenting can be set up for your blog. Clockwork will have set this up for you when the Blogs tool was installed on your site. The three options for commenting are

  • Open commenting. Anyone can comment to blog posts without restriction.
  • Commenting with Captcha. Anyone can comment, but they will be required to enter the Captcha code that is displayed when they comment.
  • Member-only commenting. In this situation, individuals who want to comment must be a member of a specified list that is attached to your blog.

In addition to what type of commenting you have, Clockwork will also have set up your instance of the Blog tool so that comments either post automatically to your site (are auto-approved) or require you to approve them first before they appear on your site. Use the following instructions to view and/or approve comments.

  1. Click the View Comments link from the main blogs screen for the blog you would like to view. The Comments page will load and display all comments for the blog you selected, whether approved or not.
  2. Click the Approve button for the comments you’d like to approve. You may also select multiple comments, then select Approve from the “With selected” drop-down.

Reject Comments

Rejecting a comment removes it from displaying on your blog.

  1. Click the View Comments link from the main blogs screen for the blog you would like to view. The Comments page will load and display all comments for the blog you selected, whether approved or not.
  2. Click the Reject button for the comment you’d like to reject.

    Note:
Rejecting a comment does not remove it from your list of comments. If you later decide you’d like a comment to display, simply click the Approve button for that comment.

Edit Comments

  1. From the main blogs screen, click the View Comments link associated with the blog for which you would like to edit comments. The Comments page will load and display all comments for the blog you selected, whether approved or not.
  2. Click the Edit button for the comment you’d like to edit.
  3. Make changes to the comment.
    • Check the Author Comment box to have the comment visually display as an author comment on your blog.
    • Check the Editor Comment box to have the comment visually display as an editor comment on your blog.
    • Note: If a user with permissions as an author or editor is logged in and makes a comment on your blog, they will not automatically appear as author or editor comments – they must be marked as such as described above.
  4. Click Save Comment.

Delete Comments

Deleting a comment completely removes it both from your list of all blog comments and from your site. Once a comment has been deleted, it cannot be retrieved or added back to your site. If you think you may want the comment for future reference, you may want to reject the comment instead of deleting it (see instructions above for rejecting comments).

  1. Click the View Comments link from the main blogs screen for the blog you would like to view. The Comments page will load and display all comments for the blog you selected, whether approved or not.
  2. Click the Delete button for the comment you’d like to delete.
