Create a New Blog

Basic Setup

A new blog can be created from the ABE Blogs screen (Fig. 1).

  1. Click “Create Blog”.
  2. Enter a Blog Name.
The Blog Name is public facing.
  3. Enter a Blog Root Page Name. The Blog Root Page will be your blog’s home page and will be part of your site’s URL. For example, if you enter “blogrootpage”, the URL will be:
www.site.com/blogrootpage/
Note: Once the blog has been set up, the root name cannot be changed.
  4. Enter a Description.
Depending on how your site is set up, this may be public facing.
  5. Choose a Site.
A blog must be created under a parent site. Select the site to which your blog will be added.
  6. Select a Blog Image Asset (optional).
This allows you to select an image from your asset library to be used as your blog icon.
  7. Click Save Blog or use the following directions for more advanced options.

Note: Your blog will not appear on your site until you have published your first post. Please refer to “Create a Blog Post” and “Publish a Post” for more information.

Advanced Setup Options

When you set up a blog the following options are automatically set to the default settings. Use the following directions to edit the default setup.

  • Main Page By default, the main page is the same as the Blog Root Page (Fig. 2). Use the Select button to select the page on your site that you would like to act as your blog home page. (This page must be created in the AMM and visible on your site map first.)
  • Post Detail Page By default, a new page that holds your blog posts is automatically set up when you create your blog. Use the Select button to select the page on your site that you would like to act as your blog post detail page instead of the default page. (This page must be created in the AMM and visible on your site map first.)
  • Comments Page By default, comments appear on the same page as the post detail. If you would like the comments to appear in a separate page, you can either “Create New” and a separate comment page will be created for you, or use the Select button to select the page in your site that you would like to act as your blog post comments page.

Click “Save Blog” when you have completed your changes. Once you click Save Blog, the blog’s pages will be created and can be viewed in the Active Site Map.

Setting up RSS Feeds

By default, your blog’s root page will automatically be set up to contribute to the RSS feed on that page. To set up an RSS feed for other pages on which you’ve placed the Blog tool components or for more information about RSS Feeds, see the AMM Manual.
