Using your Blog
Create a Blog Post
Blog posts can be created from the Blog tool's Blogs screen.
Blog Post Info
- Click “Create Post” from the Blogs screen.

- Title your post.
The title field appears on your blog listing page and may appear on your post detail page depending on how the Blog tool is configured for you.

- Enter Author names to appear with your blog post.

- Select a Status.
The status displays on the Posts page within the Blog tool and alerts other AMM users as to the status of your post.

- Enter a Publication Date.
Posts can be set for future publish, otherwise they will be time stamped with the date and time the post was created.
Note about Status and Publication Date: Posts with a status of “Draft” but a publication date that is current or in the past will be published when you select “Save and Publish” from this page. (Clicking Save and Publish with a date of current or in the past overrides the draft status.)
Note about Publication Date and scheduled publishes: A post’s Publication Date is different from scheduled publish times. For example, if you set the publication date for a post to tomorrow at noon but the next scheduled publish does not occur until tomorrow at 1 PM, the post will not be published until 1 PM. Furthermore, if prior to tomorrow at noon you change the publication date to tomorrow at 3 PM, but you leave the next scheduled time as 1 PM, the post will not publish until the next publish time after tomorrow at 3 PM.

- Enter any notes you would like to include with your post. Notes are not displayed on the live site.

- Add tags that you want to associate with this post. You may select a tag from ones that have been entered already by clicking Show Popular Tags then click the tag you want to add to this post. Or, enter a new tag in the field and click Add. Tags can be used to control which Blog Posts appear on other pages in your AMM.

- If the Comments Active box is checked, users will be able to make comments to your blog post.

- Excerpt, Full, and Additional Content.
The Blog tool's content areas function similarly to AMM content areas: you can insert a variety of components (headlines, images, rich text, links) into the area as needed. Please reference the “Content Builder” guide in the AMM manual for in-depth content building information.
- Enter an Excerpt.
The excerpt is a brief summary of the post. You can then choose to display this excerpt on your site pages.

- Enter the full contents of your post in “Full.”

- Enter any additional content you may have in the Additional Content section.
Note: Your Blog themes must be set up to display Additional Content if desired. Check with your Super User to find out if your blog uses Additional Content.
- Save your work by clicking Save Blog Post. You may also choose to “Save and Publish” – see the Publish a Post section in this manual for more information on publishing.
