Mailings

A mailing is simply a newsletter that is sent to your members via email. The formula to remember is newsletter plus list equals a mailing. You may use one newsletter on multiple mailings, and you can send a mailing to multiple lists, but a mailing can only be sent once. The diagram below shows the relationship between mailings, lists, and newsletters.

Once you have your lists defined and your newsletter creating, completing a mailing is easy. The following section will explain everything you need to know about creating, scheduling, and sending out mailings.

Navigating the Manage Mailings Page

From the Manage Mailings Page, you can create, schedule, send, and check statistics on mailing effectiveness.

The page lists each mailing you have created, sorted by the date of creation. The table lists the name of the mailing, the newsletter that was used to create the mailing, the status of the mailing (in queue, approved, open, or sent), and the date of creation.

Click Create Mailings to begin creating a new mailing.

Un-checking a status type removes that mailing from view. This allows you to limit your view to the status you are most interested in seeing.

The Check Spam tool runs a diagnostic on your mailing and gives you a report that tells you where your mailing may raise flags with Spam filters. This gives you the opportunity to edit your mailing so it has the highest likelihood of getting to its intended recipients.

Clicking the Send Trial will take you to the Mailing Trial Run page.

Cancel allows you to cancel a mailing that is in active, in queue, approved, or open status.

Statistics allows you to display the number of emails sent, the number of emails bounced, number of emails opened, the number of users who opted-out, and the number of users who clicked-through.

The sort by drop down allows you to change the order in which your mailings are listed.
